Encoder error after random amount of time recording

Good day,

Hoping someone more familiar with the ins and outs of OBS might be able to offer some insight as to what may be happening and what steps I might be able to take to resolve them.

I'm usually able to record for a couple hours without an issue but eventually the OBS recording will error out with an "Encoder error" message 5-6 times (ie. have to click OK to close 5-6 of the same error window)

I first had this issue trying to use the AV1 encoder so I switched to NVENC H264. Unfortunately I've been having the same issue with that. I'm going to try switching to X264, though I'd prefer to use one of the NVENC encoders since I'm using a 4090 and should have plenty of GPU overhead to do so. The odd thing is that it says there's "No such file or directory" and yet it's fine for a good while before the error and recorded files are there up to the point where the error stops the recording.

I'd really appreciate any help or insight.

Thanks in advance

You have "split files by time" enabled but your filename contains a date format, when the date transitions the directory created at the start of the recording is no longer used and the new one doesn't exist, causing this failure. I would suggest not using a variable directory name to avoid this.

Oh dang, I hadn't considered that it was the file name format causing the issue. Feels like such a Y2K issue, lol. I'll remove the part of the filename that creates a new folder and see if it happens again. Fingers crossed as that would be such a simple solution, organization be darned.

Thank you!
